31st July marks 19 years to the day on which Prasanna and I started dating. I sometimes cannot believe that I have spent more years with this person in my life (19), than I have spent without her in it (16). In many ways, we have seen each other grow and have been there for each other through the times that both were assholes back then, to the time now where we hope we are lesser of assholes. I struggle to think of a single emotion that she hasn’t seen me go through. Heck, I struggle now to think of a time in my life that didn’t have her in it. She’s been the strongest rock for me, and as she works her way through a rough time in her life, I hope that I can be the rock that she needs me to be.

Life is easier to navigate, with her by my side.

This week, I finished up another 4 week cycle at the gym. And it was a fun cycle! 4 weeks ago, I told Muthu that I want to work towards my first pull up. Its a move I haven’t ever been able to execute for a very long time and in these 4 weeks, I have made so much progress (cue the ā€œconsistencyā€ speech here). I’m still not there where I can do an entire body weight pull up. But I’m able to execute on some negative and banded pull ups. That in itself is a win for me. Onwards! šŸ’ŖšŸ¾

Tomorrow, we begin a new training block. And I’ll need to start training for the 16K at Chennai Trail Ultra as well so time to get cracking. Chop chop!

We got a bit of a shocker this week with our electricity bill. We think that there was a mix up in the last 2 month cycle and they ended up charging for both the months, in this 2 month cycle. The bill was over ₹ 20,000. Prasanna went down to TNEB to have a talk about this, but as always, government offices are screwed beyond repair so there was nothing concrete that came out of it. Gaslighting was involved.

I have for now, picked up a bunch of smart plugs so that I can see if our ACs are the problem point. Hopefully we’ll be able to get to the bottom of this and not get screwed again.

We went for dinner to our dear friend’s place this week. This was followed by grabbing ice cream at Ciclo cafe. Prasanna and I both had the horlicks flavour. I have also tried their key lime flavour and even that was amazing! The ice creams there seem to be really nice. We also met our friend’s sibling and partner and while I am usually very introverted during the first meeting - they really made me feel comfortable and were quite the riot to hang out with.

This week’s badminton wasn’t enjoyable for 2 reasons:

  1. The venue - Blues is just hard to play games at with next to 0 ventilation. We’ve now switched back to M Square which I hope will be a more consistent venue here on out.
  2. Bum hip flexor - My right hip flexor has been giving me the iffs for a bit now, and it reallllly showed up during this week’s games. I actually stopped playing midway and just sat down to stretch it out.

Hopefully the upcoming week’s game will be better, excited!

My sister sent me some early Rakhi gifts and I was so happy to receive it. As evidence of how much she knows me, the rakhi is a cool NASA themed one ✨🌌!

Hers is a relationship that I deeply cherish and I look forward to a lot more stories, a lot more conversation, a lot more disagreement, a lot more coffee and a whole lot more of pulling each other’s leg.

ā€œBlood of the covenant is thicker than water of the wombā€

We had friends visit us from Bangalore and we caught up with them for dinner + coffee. We had dinner at Sugo Sugo and coffee at Halt. I really liked the Pizza at Sugo Sugo. Unfortunately their pasta menu was under redesign and we could taste only 1 pasta which was nice. I didn’t enjoy the cold brew I tried at Halt however, so maybe I’ll pass on that place the next time (yes, they didn’t have a cortado).

I tried playing pickleball this week and actually enjoyed it (I was initially very sceptical to try). It is VERY different when compared to badminton in many ways. Though, I didn’t find it to be as intense as badminton. Also, the court we played on was bad I think as it had a lot of dead spots. It’ll be even more fun to play on a dedicated pickleball court though. Hopefully in time :)

We took Minnal out to the terrace this week! She’s only been an indoor cat as long as she’s been with us and it’s been a long time wish of Prasanna’s to leash train her because she’s one cat that we feel will be ā€œoutdoorsyā€. So we did that over the past few weeks - though she associated the harness more with the treats that came after, rather than a ā€œwalkā€ (maybe that’s OK too 😁) and we took her out to the terrace!

She ate one FULL packet of creamy treats and enjoyed a bit of sights and smells from the world around. It was a positive enough experience for us to give this a shot again so hopefully in the near future, she will really become a cat that we can take to places? šŸ¤·šŸ¾

Anyway, back to the grind for now, till next time šŸ‘‹šŸ¾
