This week was a most epic week for Sundarakala. All the totes that were put up for sale sold out!!! Within a matter of minutes.
And there were folks who placed orders for more too. It feels so nice to see that there is a market for the work that Prasanna does, on other mediums.
Come on, free markets! Do your thing!
Avid readers of my weeknotes (hello, 5 people) will know my ardent love for the book - Project Hail Mary and I was totally pumped that the trailer dropped this week. Iām equal parts excited and not so excited about this, to be honest. There are parts of the trailer that I liked and parts that I wished that theyād have not shown.
I think this is the first time that Iām passionate about a book before the movie came out so I might just be that guy here.
In any case, you MUST watch the movie. Better yet, you MUST read the book listen to the audiobook.
We went to watch āSitare Zameen parā with a dear friend and I quite honestly didnāt like the movie much (note to self: wow Iām sounding like such an uncle in this weeknote).
While the substance was there, I felt that the execution didnāt meet it. Aamir felt like he was over acting in every single scene. Genelia had all but ONE requirement in the entire movie (wonāt spoil it here). The saving grace, were the kids and how the focus was on them having fun, and not so much on the disabilities. Thatās the part I loved.
I had my first ābad workout dayā this week. I couldnāt bench press even what I did last week. I quickly realized its because I hadnāt slept well the previous night and I know from all my training blocks that bad sleep = bad workout the next day. Plain and simple.
Every single thing I did, felt like a drag, and hard.
But as my trainer said:
āYou showed up and in the long run that will matter the mostā
I know this for a fact and have written about it too - showing up is just the most important thing
Badminton felt like a drag too, that same evening.
On the techy side of things, Iāve been experimenting with Claude code a bunch. Specially after heading Armin talk about it
Wrote a non trivial piece of migration code for something weāve wanted to accomplish at work, in about 4 hours of āvibingā. Consider me sold.
Exciting and scary times lie ahead.
Friday was a fantastic gym session with me executing a 60KG Romanian Deadlift (RDL).
I was super happy that I was able to do this, and that too on the same week where another day felt so weak.
Consistency matters!
Since the last week, Iāve started to listen to the first book in the Bobiverse series. The plot is hilarious:
It is the story of a computer engineer who sells his company for a shit ton of money, enough to register at a cryogenic company that promises to store his body in cryo storage for as long as it took technology to be able to transfer his consciousness into a computer. He is killed tragically, just a few days after he signs up and wakes up 100s of years later - as a computer program, that is under the control of the State. He must now take to the stars, to find new places for our race to survive, because earth has changed in those 100s of years.
The best part? It is narrated by Ray Porter! The same amazing superb fellow that has narrated Project Hail Mary. I am thoroughly enjoying it, and canāt wait for the upcoming books in the series.
Over the weekend, I met an old friend who briefly worked with me at Logic Soft. He worked with us as an intern and now heās a full well rounded engineer. We met at Bask and spent a whole lot of time talking and catching up about everything. Thereās really something about seeing people grow and heās grown so much. Everytime I talk to him, I feel grateful that our paths passed and I was able to play a tiny role - a small stone that he used, to skip over to the next.
Iām sure heāll go places. I canāt wait to see it.
Till next time šš¾
